Research Ethics
Research ethics are of paramount importance when studying individuals who experience intimate partner violence (IPV). These individuals are often in vulnerable and sensitive situations, making it crucial for researchers to prioritize their safety, well-being, and dignity throughout the research process. Ethical research practices ensure that participants are provided with informed consent, are not subjected to further harm or distress, and that their identities and stories are protected. Additionally, upholding research ethics helps generate accurate and reliable data, which can inform policies, interventions, and support systems aimed at addressing IPV effectively. By respecting the principles of research ethics in studies related to IPV, researchers contribute to a safer and more empathetic environment for survivors while advancing the knowledge needed to combat this pervasive issue.
